[BEST FIX] – ‘ANDROID.PROCESS.ACORE HAS STOPPED WORKING’ ERRORS

Android is a pretty reliable phone OS but it does have the odd issue here and there. One seemingly common issue is the ‘android.process.acore has stopped working’ error. It might occur every few seconds when you’re trying to make a call or adding or removing a contact. It quickly becomes annoying.

The android.process.acore process is associated with Contacts, which is why it usually occurs when you’re doing something with those contacts. Why the error happens I don’t know but there are a couple of things you can do to fix it.

FIX ‘ANDROID.PROCESS.ACORE HAS STOPPED WORKING’ ERRORS

There are a couple of fixes I have found that work. A couple are simple, clearing the cache and disabling the Facebook app. The final one is a factory reset, which while a fix of last resort does address the error. Let’s try the easy fixes first though.

1. Navigate to Settings and then Apps.
2. Navigate to Contacts and tap it.
3. Tap Storage and tap Clear Cache.

Ideally, you should no longer see the ‘android.process.acore has stopped working’ error. If it still occurs, try this next fix. For some reason, disabling the Facebook app can stop the error occurring. I know the Facebook app interfaces with Contacts in order to work properly, but I don’t know exactly why it causes the error. However, try this:

1. Navigate to Settings and then Apps.
2. Navigate to the Facebook app and tap it.
3. Tap Force Stop.

If this method stops the error, it might be worth uninstalling the Facebook app and reinstalling it again. A file corruption or invalid setting is the most likely cause of this error. Download a fresh copy of the app from the Google Play Store and see how it goes.

If after those two fixes you are still seeing the ‘android.process.acore has stopped working’ error, the only other fix I know is to perform a factory reset of the handset. It is likely that the corruption or invalid setting is within Android itself and a reset is the simplest way of reverting it. Just remember to back up or save all your data somewhere before doing it otherwise you will lose it all.

1. Back up all of your contact details, files and data.
2. Navigate to Settings and then Backup & Reset.
3. Select Factory data reset and follow the wizard.

A full reset of the phone will return it back to factory defaults. It also wipes everything off the phone which is why performing the backup first is so important. While extreme, if wiping the cache and turning off Facebook didn’t fix acore, this is the only other way I know of that will.
